Burning Data CDs
ImageEver burned data to a cd and been told "success", then later discovered some of the data is mangled?  How can you ever tell if the burn was successful?  There is a way...

Download FILECHECKMD5

Follow the instructions to create an MD5 checksum file in the root of the data you wish to burn to cd.  Then copy the FileCheckMD5 into that root too.

Next, burn your cd including the program and checksum file.

When burning complete, run the FileCheckMD5 program directly from the CD and it will tell you if the data is perfect.

Getting into the habit of doing this with all your CDs will save you a lot of grief later if your backups have failed.

FileCheckMD5 is not designed to work with music CDs, only data.
