Can I use a remote control program to operate your software?
Remote control is a delicate area.  It depends on which RC software you use - a lot of them incorporate certain functions that can cause some software to malfunction when remotely used.  You cannot actually cause any damage in any case.  If you want to use remote, test a remote program first to see if there are any problems.  This only applies to 'remote controllers'  which is totally different from proper 'network' enabled software, such as Cruiser3, in which case there is no problem as you do not need a remote controller.

Does your software contain any adware spyware or malware?
No.  We are totally opposed to such activities, and will not support any software that includes any of those items.  If you detect spyware in any of our recommmended third party programs, please inform us by email (see 'Contact us') and if this proves to be true it will be removed from our site.

I cannot connect to a server using a network version of a program
The common fault is with Firewalls.  While you need to get your personal firewall to permit the program to have external access, the server is also likely to have a firewall which needs to be allowed to receive the incoming connections - if in doubt, get your system admin to set it up for you.

Note for system admins - if you need further specifics in order to set firewall permissions, please email us from the 'Contact us' page.

Is any B2 software portable?
Most B2 software does not use the registry for anything vital, and never uses anything outside of its installed directory.  In theory this should classify it as portable, but we do not test it for such.  If you would like to test this yourself, please do so, but bear in mind that some programs will need to create and edit data and settings files, so burning the software to a cd is not advisable.  Transferring the software to a USB stick or drive should be workable though (the drive letter is not hard-coded into the software).

Registered software is different - while theoretically it should also be portable, the registration data is dependant on the hardware configuration of the pc it was registered on.  So, moving it to another directory on the same pc may be ok but it will NOT work if moved to another pc.

May I link to pages or software on your site?
Feel free to link to anything you want.  On the internet it is a general practice and it is not expected that anyone should need permission to do so.

Why does Manifest not support the GIF picture format?
The GIF format is not suited to photographs as it has a maximum of 256 colors whereas photographs need a minimum of 16 million colors.  The JPG format is the world-wide standard for photographs.

Why does my registered software now say it is no longer registered?
There are two reasons for this:  you either copied everything to a different pc (which invalidates the registration), or you have made a major alteration to the hardware.  The most common alterations are - adding an extra hard drive or plugging in a usb hard drive.  You will find that after disconnection of the newer drive and reboot of the pc, the program now functions properly again.

Will your software run on Windows 98 or Windows 95?
While most of the utilities will possibly work under Windows 98, we do not advise it as that system (plus 95) has now become very dated.  The 95/98 systems were quite unstable compared to 2000/XP so we don't guarantee any success on the earlier systems.  While the smaller utilities may run ok on those systems, the larger ones should only be relied on to work properly on a proper modern system - i.e. 2000 or later.
